Hang Mua, the Tam Coc viewpoint
Hang Mua in northern Vietnam, is the karst peak from which one can observe the whole valley which is part of the Halong Bay. Located a few kilometers from the village of Tam Coc, it can be reached easily by bike from the village. This is the famous point of view we see on all the guides and magazines that writes about “Halong Bay on Land”.
The entrance fee
The entrance to the Hang Mua site is 100,000 dong per person (in 2016), prices climb very quickly. It is not possible to enter for free by the side, all access is closed.
Visit to the Hang Mua site
The entrance includes access to a cave, a small decorated pond and the 2 view points.
Once the entrance ticket is paid at the ticket office, you take the path and on the way you can admire a series of amazing Bronzais, with sprawling roots.
The garden of Hang Mua
There is a beautiful small park with a pond and a central island here too, which you can and should visit.
The main stairway at Hang Mua
The main staircase of several hundred steps is immediately visible after the pond. It is this staircase that leads to the point of view where you can take the same pictures as on the guides.
The cave of Hang Mua
To the left of this staircase, if you continue the small path, you will find the small cave immersed under a passage. Just after, a sign indicates a second point of view, on the other side of the hill.
The climb to Hang Mua
If you have visited the small cave, you can retrace your steps and start the long climb to the summit. There are nearly 500 steps to climb, and as you climb, the view emerges.
The panorama at Hang Mua
The best is to come at the right time, in other words when the weather is nice and the rice fields are green, otherwise you will only see mud fields.
Going down, you can try the second view point. The boat cruise from Tam Coc passes by here.
The entire hike takes about half a day, so you can continue with the small boat trip on the Ngo Dong River.
