Apart from window cleaning products that are usually sold on the market, you can effectively clean your windows in many ways that are often more economical than you think:
– with dishwashing liquid diluted in lukewarm water
– by lightly wetting the glass with a sponge and then rubbing with newspaper in a ball or rubbing with a newspaper moistened with alcohol to burn or with vinegar
– wiping with a cloth soaked in hot alcohol vinegar or a mixture of water and alcohol (50/50), or water mixed with ammonia (1/2 glass) per liter).
Fireplace inserts or wood burning stoves can be cleaned with:
– a product to strip the ovens
– ash on a sponge or wet newspaper making it environmentally friendly
– aluminum wheel cleaner
– caustic soda
Tips: If grease stains persist on your windows, simply rub a slice of onion in the greasy areas before washing. Do not work in the sun, it leaves halos on the tiles. Remember that a window will be easier to clean if it is cleaned often.
Other tools:
You can also use a squeegee window cleaner or squeegee with a strip of microfibre foam, a telescopic electric window washer or a steam cleaner and then polish with a chamois.
