How to visit Halong Bay

Halong Bay is often ranked in the list of the world’s wonderful sights. Perhaps you’ve heard a lot about Halong Bay, yet there are other awesome things to discover from this maritime territory.

The weather in Halong

In Halong, 4 seasons are distinct. The first beautiful season to visit in Halong is spring (the months of March, April and May) with high humidity and a haze of heat. It is the beautiful season where you can swim or lay tanning. The second beautiful season is fall (September, October, November) where it is sunny, low humidity. It’s also the best season to visit the northern parts of Vietnam. Summer (June, July, August) is when most locals visit Halong Bay. However, the temperature is very high and there are heavy showers at the beginning and at the end of the day, typhoons can also cause cancellations of cruises. In winter (December, January, February), the temperature is low and it’s a bit too cold to swim. If you come in winter, bring a sweater.

How to get there?

There are 2 popular ways to go to Halong
From Hanoi:
By car, the journey from Hanoi-Bac Ninh-Hạ Long is most recommended. The distance is about about 160km.
By bus, from Lương Yên or Mỹ Đình station (Hanoi), arrival at Bãi Cháy station, Hạ Long. Price varies from 100000 VNĐ to 200000VNĐ.
From Hai Phong: From Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang, fly to Hai Phong and drive to Halong. This way, you can save time by avoiding to go back by Hanoi.

Halong Bay: The natural beauty of this bay consists of submerged karst limestone formations. The progression and regression of the sea on the limestone karst has caused conical shapes that opens up a magical world in the caves. Numerous islands and islets of carved shapes varied by nature present a picturesque marine landscape.

Chay Beach: The seaside resort of Chay is located along Halong Bay, perfect for relaxation and swimming. This seaside resort is influenced by the wind, the average temperature is 20 degree celsius.

Co To Island: To observe the island of Co To with beautiful corals, tourists can go by boat to this island and swim there. Co To Island maintains unspoilt beauty amid the turbulent atmosphere of tourism in Halong.

Tuan Chau Island: Being one of the most beautiful islands in Halong Bay, it’s also the only island where there are locals whom reside. There you can enjoy the largest artificial beach in Vietnam.
