Halong Bay
Halong Bay is one of the biggest tourist attractions in Vietnam. It has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1994. It stretches over 1,500 km2 in northern Vietnam, in the Gulf of Tonkin. This bay is famous because of its 1969 karstic islands, known as sugar loaves, which makes it a unique and heavenly landscape.

Climate in Halong Bay
May to September : it’s summer, the weather is hot and humid. You can swim and enjoy the blue sky and clear weather.
From October to April : the weather is grey and there may be fog. There are a lot less tourists during this period.

By car with driver
It is the easiest way to get to Halong Bay from Hanoi and vice versa. It takes about 2 hours 40 minutes.
By bus
Bai Chay Bus Station
The station is located 5 kilometres from Bai Chay. From there you take a taxi or minibus.
From and to:
Hanoi: 3 hour trip
Haiphong: 2 hour trip
Ninh Binh: 4 hour trip
Hon Gai Bus Station
From Hanoi: Take the train to Haiphong. Count with 2h40 of travel time, then another 1h25 to go to Halong Bay.
On boat
The pier of Bai Chay is 3 kilometers from the city center. This is the starting point for cruises in Halong Bay.

The bus remains the easiest way to get around. You can also take a taxi.
