How to clean the windows: 4 easy methods

Household products for cleaning windows are amongst the most dangerous products for your health. Save money and use natural cleaning products instead.

1) Clean the windows with dishwashing liquid

This is the traditional method of pros to get bright windows. Mix 5 drops of dishwashing liquid with 1 litre of hot water. Apply the mixture on the window by rubbing with a sponge. You can use a scouring sponge on very dirty parts. Then pass a rubber squeegee to remove the product. Finish with a dry cloth flush with the frames to remove all traces of moisture.

2) Clean windows with newspaper

Take daily sheets (not glossy paper magazines, free matte paper newspapers work just fine too), roll them into a ball. Soak the paper balls with household alcohol and rub the panes in rotating motions until you have scrubbed the entire surface. If there are any traces, wipe them with a microfibre cloth.

3) Clean windows with white vinegar

Prepare your own cleaning solution, it will be much cheaper. Mix 75 cl of water with 25 cl of white vinegar in a bottle equipped with a spray. Spray the liquid on the glass and rub with lint-free cloths until all traces have been removed. The advantage of this method is that vinegar will make flies fly, which is always good news!

4) Clean windows with black soap

This method leaves a light “greasy” film on the windows which has the effect of protecting them from dirt and traces. Dilute 1 tablespoon of black soap in a 1 liter of hot water, rub the windows with emphasis on the dirty parts. Then wipe carefully with a microfibre cloth until you have removed the maximum amount of product.
